Pop-up Blocked!

One or more pop-up blockers have been detected that are preventing you from launching this learning content. Pop-up blockers will not allow your selected learning to be properly tracked and scored. In most cases, for each enabled pop-up blocker that you have on your machine, you must either tell it that pop-up windows from the hosting learning site are allowed or else temporarily disable it. If neither of these alternatives is possible for a specific pop-up blocker, then you will have to uninstall it from your machine.

Select the specific help you need, or just scroll through this file for instructions on how to perform these tasks.

Once you believe that you have completely unblocked this learning site, then click here to try to successfully launch the course again.

Identifying Your Pop-Up Blockers

First, you must be able to identify the pop-up blockers that you have on your machine. Generally, most will install themselves either within the toolbar area along the top of the browser window or within the Windows taskbar positioned at the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.

To find those installed within the toolbar area of your browser, first select the View Menu and then choose the Toolbar menu item, or right-click your mouse somewhere on the browser’s menubar or toolbar area. Some of the more common toolbars you might see with pop-up blocking capabilities include:

  • Google (illustrated here)
  •
  • Yahoo!
  •
  • MSN
  •
  • AOL

Other pop-up blockers can be found residing in the windows taskbar in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen. For example, this machine has Norton Internet Security installed.

Finally, with the release of Microsoft’s Service Pack 2, pop-up blocking can also be directly integrated into Internet Explorer itself. If you are encountering behavior as depicted below when trying to launch your learning content, then IE’s pop-up blocker is preventing it.

Allowing (Whitelisting) ACS Global Learning Content Pop-Up Windows

The easiest and most sensible thing to do, especially if you will be consuming multiple ACS Global Learning WBLs, is to tell each pop-up blocker on your machine that pop-up windows from the hosting learning site are allowed. This is a process known as whitelisting.

Descriptions of how to accomplish this for several of the more popular pop-up blockers follow.

Internet Explorer Service Pack 2

If Internet Explorer is blocking pop-up windows, then first click the OK button on the Information Bar dialog box shown below.

Next, right-click on the information bar and choose the Always Allow Pop-ups from This Site... menu item.

Finally, click the Yes button on the Allow pop-ups from this site? dialog box to confirm.

Google Pop-up Blocker

The diagram below highlights where the pop-up blocker button sits in the Google toolbar. You simply need to click on that button in your Google toolbar located at the top of this browser window.

When the button displays ”Popups okay”, as shown below, your action has been successful.

Yahoo! Pop-up Blocker

To whitelist the hosting learning site for a Yahoo! pop-up blocker, first click on the button in your Yahoo! toolbar and then select the Always Allow Pop-Ups From... menu item.

This opens the Yahoo! Pop-Up Blocker dialog window where you will see [your client name].intellinex-asp.com included amongst those URLs listed as Sources of Recently Blocked Pop-Ups:. Click first on that entry and then on the Allow button.

Yahoo! will then ask you to confirm the action by clicking on the OK button. Once you do, the entry for [your client name].intellinex-asp.com will be moved into the Always Allow Pop-Ups From These Sources: section of the window. At that point, click on the Close button at the bottom to finish this procedure.

MSN Pop-up Blocker

As depicted below, click on the arrow to the right of the pop-up blocker button in your MSN toolbar located at the top of this browser window.

Then, simply choose the Allow Pop-Ups for This Site item from the resultant drop-down menu to complete this procedure.

Disabling Your Popup-Blockers

If you decide that you do not want to always allow pop-up windows from the ACS Global Learning site, or if one or more of your pop-up blockers does not support whitelisting, then you must temporarily disable each pop-up blocker before you can continue consuming this learning content.

To accomplish this, most pop-up blocking programs will have an icon which displays in the Windows taskbar in the lower-right corner of the screen. You can usually right click the appropriate icon and choose a Disable or Exit option. You can then always re-enable them later if you choose to.

Once again, descriptions of how to accomplish this for several of the more popular pop-up blockers follow.
